How do I connect my personal device to the district Wi-Fi?
All staff and students are able to connect their personal devices (phones, tablets, etc) to the district Wi-Fi to remain connected when other connectivity is unavailable (such as the 4G/LTE/5G cell network). This does not include the ability to reach any internal resources - those can only be accessed using devices owned and managed by the district. Please review the instructions relevant to your device below to get started.
Important notes
- When connecting to this network you are required to accept the certificate when prompted. This only confirms you are connected to the correct network, it does not allow us to view encrypted traffic between your device and the internet.
- You will be required to recomplete these steps, or confirm an updated certificate, at least once every year due to the certificate only lasting about that long.
Connecting Apple devices (iOS/iPad)
- From your Home screen, go to Settings > Wi-Fi.
- Turn on Wi-Fi if it is currently off. Your device will automatically search for available Wi-Fi networks.
- Tap on the D41 BYOT network.
- Enter your district username (without @d41.org) and password, and then tap on Join in the top right.
- Confirm the screen shows wifi.d41.org, and then tap on Trust in the top right.
- You should see a blue checkmark appear to the left of D41 BYOT which confirms you are connected to the network.
Connecting Android devices
Due to every manufacturer customizing the appearance of Android on their devices, the exact steps you need to take may vary slightly.
- From your home screen, go to Settings > Connections > Wi-Fi.
- Turn on Wi-Fi if it is currently off. Your device will automatically search for available Wi-Fi networks.
- Tap on the D41 BYOT network.
- Enter your district username (without @d41.org) in the Identity field.
- Enter your district password in the Password field.
- Confirm the EAP Method (if shown) is set to PEAP.
- Change the CA Certificate option to Use system certificates and leave the Online certificate status on the value it automatically picks.
- Enter wifi.d41.org in the Domain field.
- You should see the word connected under D41 BYOT which confirms you are connected to the network.
